What is PSM?

PSM is a J2ME application ( MIDlet ) that has several features:

  • By using cryptography it preserves the privacy of your SMS
  • By using a special compression, saves you money on long messages
  • Allows inserting GIF animations in your SMS at no extra cost

Is PSM working on all cellular phones?

PSM works on all phones that support  java MIDlets and at least the profile MIDP 2.0. We suggest to download and install on your phone the free Trial version to verify its full functionality before purchasing the activation license.

 

To be working can PSM be installed on just one cellular phone?

No, every phone that sends or receive these special SMS needs to have PSM installed.

 

Does PSM need a data connection ( Internet )?

No, PSM is working with every GSM/GPRS/UMTS/WCDMA wireless public nets.

 

Does PSM support different operators?

All operators which provide the SMS service are supported.

 

Does PSM need an expensive new generation smart phone?

No, even very old phones that support a J2ME MIDP 2.0 profile, should be compatible. However, we strongly suggest to install and test the free Trial version before purchasing a license.

 

What kind of cryptography is used by PSM?

Is the password unique?

There are 2 kind of passwords:

  • The Master Password which is unique and chosen by the user to access the application and all data.
  • The password shared with the contact you send/receive the SMS to/from, which can be stored ( encrypted ) on your phone or chosen when sending the message. Every contact can have a different shared password

 

May I have the same license for different cellular phones?

No, the license is "per phone" and every cellular needs a unique PSM installation and license.

 

Which are the supported languages?

Both English and Italian for now.

 

Can PSM encoding be considered "strong"?

Yes, to make an example the NSA suggests that all TOP SECRET documents should be encrypted with a 192 or 256 bit AES.
